Images are incredibly important—often as attractive as the headline. Everyone in this thread and on Medium is bright, creative, observant and likely has a camera in their phone. If you don't want (or can't afford) to buy stock photos from a reputable site that pays the pros for their work then simply be more visually creative. I'm far more curious about an article illustrated with a clumsy doodle than that same well-lit quill or old typewriter keyboard. Try doing some drawings and get better at taking photos. It's faster & WAY more fun and rewarding than searching copyright ownership in an internet full of scammers, lawyers & victims of art theft.
