I came out of REM hollering, “No!” The message [that my brother was killed] was wrong and I knew it was wrong. The power of my emotions to absolutely reject what I’d just seen and heard might have blown shingles off the roof. “NO!” I bellowed again, waking myself up completely.

An odd light filled the middle of the room. A stunningly beautiful, glowing figure was standing there right in my bedroom gazing down with compassion that encompassed forever. Not God and no wings, but certainly something greater than me. This being took two steps, reached down to touch my flaming forehead and the sweetest, most loving voice intoned, “It’s okay. Go back to sleep.”

When an angel touches you, you pretty much believe what they say and obey. That touch conveyed a message that there was simply a transmission intensity error — maybe some kind of sun flare glitch. All those crazed emotions vanished, and I fell back asleep before the room went dark. — From Chapter 9
