Has Anyone Seen Mahesh? — Still Not There Yet pg193
Colorful companion to my memoir The Incompetent Psychic
I imagine Mahesh in a flower crown riding a painted elephant with too many legs. Mahesh was flat out brilliant, spoke seven languages and made his living as a finance wizard. For fun and in secret he figured a system to combine Western and Vedic astrology. (“Don’t tell anyone. Money geeks aren’t allowed to do cosmic shit.”)
I should have made a deal with him to trade a painting in exchange for getting my accounts in order, but I wanted a reading instead. It was a worthy exchange. Mahesh got a colorful, goofy abstract showing the convolutions of how his brain worked, and I got a three hour analysis of me.
Mahesh unfolded a circle chart full of squiggles. In the liquid song of his country he intoned, “I don’t believe alcoholism is a good thing for people, but in your case I do believe it saved your life. You have nothing in earth to ground you. You would not have survived your emotions without being drunk.” Then he said some helpful things about how we become strong enough to heal over time. Then as soul buddies we can’t keep so often do, he hopped back on his elephant and flew away. — From Chapter 10
Pictured here is a bad digital transfer from a transparency of the wrong artwork. The painting I traded for an astrological reading from Mahesh was never photographed. Who knows, Mahesh might google me after 26 years, discover my book, find this companion to it, read this entry and send me a photo if he kept the painting. Hey Mahesh! Love you forever!
