Introducing Tiffany Rose…

Using a flowery pseudonym was a good idea. The Tropicana was billed as ‘The Tiffany of the Strip’. I was an independent contractor for Tiffany Florist and duh, I sold roses. Occasionally a gambler or diner would request a service and you would hear a page.

‘Virginia Slim to the Blue Room’ meant someone in the cabaret wanted cigarettes. In Caesar’s Palace, a page for ‘Princess Fatima’ meant someone ordered a prostitute. I didn’t care to have my real name announced on the casino loudspeaker, so came up with a moniker that stuck during that year I went a little wild and behaved a tad badly. Anonymity was easier to maintain back in the pre-digital age, and ill-advised exploits could be hidden from recorded history… well, until someone writes a book. — From Chapter 5

This ink drawing is another that survived forty years of stuff-shuffling to eventually illustrate this memoir. My job after being Tiffany Rose the flower girl was the only time during my long commercial design career when I was paid an hourly wage to simply sketch ideas. In subsequent jobs I was fired for sketching because I was supposed to be sorting mail.
