“I happen to be human right now, so the painting of my life is still a work in progress. Stepping back I see some parts are a little garish, while others are awkward and sketchy. But hey, it isn’t finished yet.” — from the foreword

Collage of Faux Louvre originals 2015

This compilation of 124 original watercolors in ornate, painted frames is from my Impressions of Art History series, which spanned fifteen years from 2003–2018. The process of conceiving, creating and selling an elaborate body of artwork over time is described in chapters 12–14.

I marketed this work as the Faux Louvre. Here are the stats:

Museums visited (Honolulu to Paris): 34

Total museum trips (incl Special Exhibits): 60

Total sketches done in museums: 815

Originals completed from sketches: 306

Framed originals sold (Thank you!): 251

Original paintings still available: 11 (in my own collection, but I might part with some of them)

Print series (over 3,400 in painted frames) sold out during the finale sale on Etsy in October, 2022

Seeking sunnier landscapes I left Woodstock NY for Tucson where I'll teach painting & finish a scifi novel. Images are my originals. Links at mernie.com
