Transition Sector pg33
a colorful companion to my memoir The Incompetent Psychic
We again join my committee of spirit guides…
Fauna ignored her and continued, “This horoscope is a doozy. All these planets in water at birth are perfect for achieving creative mastery. But all those emotions if she’s damaged…”
“When she’s damaged,” interrupted Gamdi.
“Okay, when,” Fauna continued. “See here? The compensation transit of House ten…”
Rose interrupted this time, “ This chart is like 3D chess and you’re speaking in crop circles again. How about a summary for dummies?”
“Early damage will lead to an emotionally unbalanced personality and subsequent addiction. Mernie’s intelligence and abilities won’t be able to overcome an outward perception that she is an unpredictable, over-beveraged lunatic in her formative years,” Fauna concluded. “She’ll need more strident guidance than I can offer.” — from Chapter 1
I painted what ended up being called the ‘Low Gravity’ series off and on over ten years between 1982–1992. Several of these imagined, abstracted plant forms were done on large canvases with airbrushed acrylic when my moods were good. Others were splattered ink, gouache and colored pencil on paper. Doing those during darker passages helped keep me from spinning too far into the unlit vortex. During this period of my life very little was organized or cataloged, so I don’t know what year this was created… or even how big the series ended up being. I found stacks of undated photos while packing to move in 2016, quickly recorded them with my iPhone and tossed ’em. I believe that art should ultimately have something uplifting to impart. These didn’t.
