Colorful companion to my memoir The Incompetent Psychic

So there I was with an entire winter to take my art in any direction and hitting cul de sacs. I had finally bought four solid months to paint-for-me, and kept circling back in on myself. This new luxury of time to step back and examine my vocation’s larger picture revealed previously unseen patterns. To create and mount an appealing show in a gallery there has to be an obvious sense of cohesion — an exploration within a theme that captures the interest of curators, jurors, viewers and collectors Not counting serendipitous ‘one-offs’, I had crated three distinct bodies of work over the past fifteen yeas — about five years and fifty paintings per body.
First were abstracted botanical forms in a variety of media — the Low Gravity series. Then I did large oil paintings of Rose Mandalas, inspired by the 19 rose bushes in my garden. Most recent had been the Baroque co co series, based on curvy forms of European decorative furnishings. — From Chapter 11
